Hanglage brings existing open route data onto one readable map. A published route is not a recommendation for current conditions.

Austrian routes

CC-BY-4.0: Österreich Werbung. The initial public collection uses the explicitly licensed Austria Tourism Open Data collection under CC BY 4.0. Hiking sources appear in the summer filter and retain their hiking classification on the detail page. Source difficulty and season information are preserved; we do not assign new difficulty ratings.

Our presentation

Maps and grade colors derive from the same route revisions and elevations as the app. Track colors show grade along the route, not terrain slope or avalanche danger. Copernicus DEM elevation profiles are estimates. Original provider ascent and descent values remain separate.

Protected areas

We use the shared Hanglage publication sourced from Digitize the Planet, EEA and OpenStreetMap, preserving each geometry’s original provenance. Click an area for its original rules, source and license. Simplified boundaries are for orientation. An area category is not automatically an access prohibition; follow local notices and official sources.

Avalanche bulletins

The first web version covers Tyrol, South Tyrol and Trentino. Source: Lawinen.report · CC BY 4.0. The map shows the highest level in the currently valid regional bulletin. Open a report for its time, elevation and aspect distinctions. Expired reports are labelled as archives, and missing reports never imply low danger. No levels are invented outside coverage.

Maps and photos

Basemap: Mapbox and the providers credited on the map, including OpenStreetMap. Optional terrain slope: Copernicus DEM and Hanglage’s existing slope layer. Photos retain individual author and license information; a route license does not determine photo rights.
