À la sortie du village du Rivier (1276 m) juste après le gîte d’étape, remonter (N) les pentes qui permettent de rejoindre en bordure de forêt le GR 549. Le suivre (N) jusqu'au point 1639 m ou l’on sort de la forêt. >Remonter la belle pente orientée E jusqu'à "La Berche". Poursuivre en traversée ascendante (W) jusqu’à entrer dans le vallon supportant la ligne haute tension. Remonter ce vallon jusqu’au Pas de la Coche. >##Descente >Une variante de descente intéressante : du Pas de la Coche, remonter 30 m vers le petit collu en direction du NE. On arrive en haut de belles pentes sur 400 m orientée ENE. on peut alors choisir sa pente pour descendre directement sur le point coté 1639.
